Cognac Hot Chocolate

A mug of hot chocolate, with its pillowy topping of whipped cream and shot of Cognac, is a worthwhile indulgence.
Serves 2
In a small pot, gently heat milk without simmering.
Meanwhile, put cream in a bowl and whisk (or use an electric beater) until it thickens. Stir in maple syrup and whisk until it re-thickens.
Break chocolate into small pieces, add to milk, and stir until it melts. Remove from heat. Stir in Cognac, pour into 2 mugs, and top with whipped cream.

- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp. maple syrup
- 1 bar (about 3 ounces) milk chocolate
- 1 bar (about 3 ounces) dark chocolate
- 4 Tbsp. Cognac
